Personality: If your first reaction is to cringe as you await trouble after hearing about a kid who was raised by a dragon and can use magic that allows him to pretty much simultaneously combust and grow fire from any part of his body at any moment, then you are right on the mark when it comes to accurate and understandable responses.
Natsu is infamous for his very destructive habits. His personality, his actions, everything about him is quite destructive, and the exact reason as to why people all over Fiore know the alias “Salamander” is because of his knack for destroying things excessively – mostly accidentally as... well, buildings just get in the way, alright! – while on jobs and missions. He is extremely reckless and carefree, throwing himself headfirst into situations without even pausing to think or observe, and he also tends to not think about the potential consequences of his actions. This is why he, on many occasions, finds himself in bigger trouble than he'd started in, because his reckless and destructive behaviour generate unwanted attention. He loves to fight, always looking for a chance to do so with anyone and everyone, all because he loves becoming stronger.
He also does this to prove himself, because he despises being looked down upon or seen as weak. Natsu is the most straightforward person you will ever meet; he'll never be dishonest because it just doesn't even register as an option with him, which often means that he's honest to the point of being painfully blunt. He's prone to being very inappropriate in situations – as in fooling around during a serious one, which he often does – and pretty much has no brain to mouth filter; he just says or does whatever immediately comes to mind and is often punished in one way or another for it, usually by being knocked upside the head or yelled at.
Natsu likes to try and prove himself, prove his strength no matter if it's hand-to-hand combat or using magic. He'll challenge anyone, often times challenging his rival, Gray, but also several S-Class Mages (being S-Class makes them exceptionally powerful). The fact that he does this even though he has been beaten by many of them over and over without a single victory – though he would never admit it; to him he doesn't get defeated – shows just how determined and absolutely stubborn he is. He never holds grudges against them, however, nor anyone he fights for that matter, because he sees everyone in Fairy Tail as his family, and even enemies are people he can forgive once he defeats them and makes them see the errors of their ways. He does everything with all of his strength, will, and determination, never doing anything without putting 100% of his effort into it, always doing everything to the best of his abilities.
There's this thing called cockiness and over-confidence, and Natsu has it in abundance. In some cases it can be seen as determination, because he is most certainly very much so a determined individual, but in other cases it isn't. In most, actually, because even when he is being beaten terribly, seemingly so outmatched in a fight, he will remain confident. He'll get to his feet, broken and beaten up, having been sent crashing to the ground for the 100th time without landing a single hit, and grin, asking, “Is that all you've got? Come on, come get me if you can. I'm just getting started.” All this while he's panting, completely out of breath, and struggling to just stay on his feet. He'll take on foes that vastly outnumber him and are much more powerful, challenge them without a blink of an eye. He believes in his abilities to a great extent, probably for the most part because of his adoration and utter love for his foster father, who was the one who taught him his magic and how to fight.
He isn't the most intelligent, that much is for certain, and is usually very dense. Natsu's brand of logic is often times very childish and hard to understand simply because a lot of the time it seems rather stupid. Sometimes, instead of seeming foolish, his beliefs and thoughts, as well as his solutions to problems, are more childish. He knocks out Erza after he sees her crying and telling him to run away or he'll be killed, and gets angry at Gerard, blaming him for causing it and stating that, "Erza was crying, and saying depressing things with a shaky voice. I've never seen Erza like that. Erza should always be strong, mean, and scary. When she wakes up, I hope she'll be the Erza I knew. That's what I'll fight for!!!" before attacking Gerard. It's a very naive thought process almost, and his need to knock out his friend to prevent himself from seeing her in any more pain is very rash. Also, other times, his solutions to problems simply surmount to fighting his way through them.
However, though this and the fact that he isn't the most smart is all true, he is actually very perceptive when it comes to situations and people he cares about. He can quickly tell if something is wrong with a friend, and in that regard is sensitive to their feelings when it matters most, though he won't usually know exactly the best thing to say or do in order to help that friend. Natsu has also shown to have incredible intelligence when it comes to fighting, because even though it may seem like he charges in and throws punches and kicks without a plan, he has a great amount of fighting experience and looks for an opponent's weak points and creates strategies almost unconsciously and instinctively.

He holds loyalty in high regard and takes it very seriously. when people are shown to be mistreating their friends, betraying them or hurting them, Natsu becomes furious at them. He gets unbelievably angry when people threaten them or cause them to suffer, as shown in biggest proportion when Gerard betrays and hurts Erza to a great extent, and also with Lucy; "You bastards lay one finger on Lucy and I'll turn all of you to ash". He also becomes angry, though mostly very upset to the point of tears, when his friends try to sacrifice themselves for him or others – if they have enough strength to do something stupid like that, then surely they have enough strength to continue fighting; "So you're gonna end this by dying, huh? Stop running away!". His anger is as fearsome as that of a dragon, and will consume everything in its path until it is satisfied. Natsu easily gets annoyed, frustrated, as well as angry, but to get him seriously pissed off takes a lot. Most of the time he'll only become that angry if his friends or family were hurt. By the time a person gets him that angry though, they surely have begun to regret it, because he is an even more frightening opponent to face when in a rage.
He is a very kind and friendly individual, and is accepting and welcoming to just about anyone. He returns kindness with kindness, and even when he hasn't been asked to do something for someone he will do it anyway if he knows that it will make them happy, as well as show concern for the well-being of strangers. He'll disobey Makarov, his Master, when told not to go and help another mage because he knows that that mage's son is worried and upset over his disappearance. He'll also continue to believe in someone, in a comrade, even if they show in every possible way that they are doing something wrong and don't care about him or anyone else. This is shown in the case of Laxus, who was trying to get rid of most of the members of Fairy Tail, threatening to kill many of them if Makarov didn't step down and make him the new Master of the Guild. Natsu continued to believe that Laxus simply needed a good punch to the face, a good fight, and then he'd come back to his senses. He was still their comrade, right? He didn't really mean everything that he'd said or done. This does in fact make Natsu naive, and a little too trusting for his own good.

He is always loud and rowdy, causing trouble wherever he goes, but is actually, most of the time, very good-natured. He has little to no tact or self-consciousness, as shown by his knack for invading Lucy's house, asking her to give him the clothes she was wearing when he needed something to wear, and many other instances when he has made perverse or dense comments to her and others, all without feeling an ounce of embarrassment, because he feels completely comfortable with himself and the friends and family he has made.
Fears: There aren't many things that Natsu fears, but what he has been shown to fear is Erza's wrath, transportation, and the Magic Council. He's afraid of Erza because she can be quite the scary woman, with tremendous power and the skill to use it, though he still loves her dearly. Due to his extreme weakness to transportation, he also fears that because he knows just how bad it is when he is rendered useless and incapable of defending himself or protecting others all because of transportation. The Magic Council is the most serious of these fears, because it is basically the government in Fiore, and it was constantly keeping a close eye on Fairy Tail, waiting for the time where they did something bad enough to warrant the Guild being forcibly disbanded. This is terrifying to Natsu, because he doesn't know what he would do if he didn't have Fairy Tail, his home and family.
Natsu also, deep down, fears losing his friends and family. He doesn't admit this to even himself though, because he believes whole-heartedly that no matter what, they'll all make it out okay, they'll all stay alive through anything. This ties into his belief that he'll find Igneel again one day, even though he vanished without a trace and has been gone for many, many years. Shown in Erza's vision of what would happen to the members of Fairy Tail after her death, Natsu's reaction was to show up at the funeral late, yelling his head off that this was stupid because Erza wasn't dead, that was impossible. He'll refuse to believe that it's even remotely possible that his friends will die or leave him, and so he fears this actually happening.

It's so bad to the point that being on any moving surface or vehicle will make him so sick that he will collapse, throw up a lot, and be unable to move or fight. He could be on a boat, in a carriage, a raft that's still and barely moving, or he could simply be being carried by someone; it will all make him so sick that he'll be immobile and defenceless. It's so bad, that even thinking about transportation will make him feel ill and possibly throw up.
Natsu also has weaknesses such as his tendency to be too reckless and cocky, throwing himself into dangerous situations without a worry, the fact that he believes in others too much and trusts them too easily, as well as his stubborn nature that will not let him give up even if his chances of winning in a fight or his chances of being able to protect someone are close to nothing. Plus, he isn't the brightest individual, and can frequently be made to believe really stupid things.
Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
As mentioned earlier, Natsu has a great amount of experience when it comes to fighting, meaning that while in a fight, he is very strategic and unconsciously looks for advantages and weaknesses to exploit in his opponents. He is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat, using such skill alongside his magic for great combinations.
Natsu is able to take a whole lot of damage before he is knocked out. Even then, he'll get back up on his feet and continue fighting. It doesn't matter if he's bleeding profusely or has broken bones, his durability in a fight is pretty much insurmountable in canon. He's been shown to take hits that would have killed a normal human or mage, and still be alive. His strength is something that is almost unbelievable as well, as in canon he has done things such as break a billiard table and the balls by simply hitting one with a cue, uprooting a palm tree, and breaking the mast of a ship before swinging it around as a weapon, all of which he did bare-handed. He is also incredibly fast, agile, and has great reflexes thanks to his vast training and heightened senses.
Sensitivity/Magical Ability:
Fire Dragon Slayer Magic – As a child, Natsu was taught this brand of magic by his foster faster, Igneel the dragon. Like all of his fellow Dragon Slayers, he is able to consume his element, fire, though not fire that he himself has created, and use it as energy for his body and for attacks. His magic, his fire, is directly linked to his emotions, meaning that when he gets riled up, excited, or angry he'll often start spewing flames or radiating them by accident; this is called Flames of Emotion. His fire can come from any part of his body, and while it is dangerous to others it doesn't harm him, nor do other flames as he is able to come in contact with them and/or consume them without a problem. Dragon Force – This is a state that Natsu can currently only achieve after consuming Etherion or Flames of Rebuke. It is said to be the final and most powerful state that is achievable by a Dragon Slayer, in which the user's body turns into that of a dragon and their powers increase many times over.
Also, because he is a Dragon Slayer and was raised by a dragon, his senses are all much better than a normal person's, especially his sense of smell and his sense of hearing, much like that of a dragon. He can hear and smell things from great distances or that are almost indistinguishable to other humans, such as being able to recognize a person's scent and follow it even if they are far away. Due to the fact that he's a Fire Mage, Natsu's body temperature is several degrees higher than normal and he seems to almost radiate heat, making him very hot to the touch and able to withstand very cold temperatures without much trouble.
Supply List: His scarf, which is detailed like white scales, given to him by his adoptive father, Igneel the dragon. It has some spiritual/magical abilities, though their full extent is unknown, but has been said to be a charm that protects Natsu from misfortune and has protected him from death magic.
